Coastal Environment Monitoring
Description
The research group is focused on the monitoring of beach morphological evolution by different tecniques. We are actively monitoring differente beaches by sampling the coastline and marine weather data such as waves, wind, and coastal currents off the coast.
To this end, we are equipping the beach to create an open-air laboratory by restoring a MEDA buoy and installing an ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) in the waters off the coast. Additionally, we have set up a fixed monitoring station for shoreline detection through photos taken by visitors. If you would like to help us in this endeavour. Citizens can participate in the research acitvity taking a picture making use of the support mounted over the beach and sending it to coastsnap@unige.it.
Actual stations have been installed in:
Genova Sturla (Metropolitan area of the city of Genoa)
Genova Quinto (Metropolitan area of the city of Genoa)
