Ocean Waves Extremes and Structures Design
This research line focuses on the study of ocean waves and their impact on coastal structures. Specifically, the research aims to understand the characteristics and impacts of extreme wave events, such as hurricanes
and typhoons, on the coastal environment and on coastal infrastructure. The goal of this research is to identify strategies for the design of robust coastal structures that can withstand extreme wave events and reduce the risk of damage and failure. This research line will use a range of observational and modeling techniques to investigate the dynamics of extreme wave events, and will develop and evaluate design approaches and technologies that can enhance the resilience of coastal structures to these events. This research will have important implications for understanding the risks associated with extreme wave events and for developing strategies to reduce the vulnerability of coastal communities to these hazards.
