CRESO Kickoff

Coastal risk and socio-economic impact due to Climate Change

19/12/2025

On 21st November 2025, in the Church of San Salvatore in Genoa, it has been officially initiated project CRESO (coastal risk and socio-economic impact due to Climate Change).

CRESO is co-funded by the EU, as part of the program INTERREGO Marittimo-IT FR-Maritime for cross-border cooperation.

It involves 6 different partners coming from Italy and France with also the staple participation of Sardinia and Corsica Islands.

This project will involve each of the partners who are respectively: DICCA (University of Genoa), ISPRA, CEREMA, SIGMA NL, MEDSEA, AUE for 36 months (2025-2027) in which they will conduct different activities and elaborate different products.

First of all, they will elaborate a public database of coastal environmental characterization and sea-weather forcings and coastal floods until 2050 and 2100, for different scenarios RCP-SSP.

Then, they will assess the vulnerability (infrastructural, socio-economic, environmental) and the impacts until 2050 and 2100.

Finally, they will elaborate some interregional recommendations for future impacts management and also of address for mitigation measures of the coastal risk.

This project stands at 1.8 M€ and the purpose is to promote the Climate Change adaptation, to prevent the catastrophe risk improving resilience and considering ecosystemic approaches.

Working side by side, something really important is going to be realized, because individual we are one drop, but together we are an ocean.
