We are proud of the participation of a group of international students from the COMEM+ (Erasmus Mundus) programme, attending the Marine Biodiversity Management course within the Environmental Engineering degree of Genoa University, in the II International Symposium on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functions under Global Change, held in Alghero from November 12–14.

Organized by the CMCC Foundation and the University of Sassari within the framework of the National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC), the event brought together leading international experts to explore the complex connections between biodiversity and ecosystem functions under Global Environmental Change.

Topics included multi-scale biodiversity monitoring (from satellite Earth observation to field surveys), emerging digital infrastructures such as artificial intelligence, ecological modelling, and digital platforms, as well as the links between biodiversity, planetary boundaries, food systems, human health, and nature-based solutions.

Student mobility was supported by the COMEM+ programme, offering participants a valuable opportunity to engage with the international scientific community and deepen their understanding of key issues related to biodiversity conservation and ecosystem resilience.
